Intel’s Netbook revealed as FTEC SmartBook, mystery solved

Finally, the Intel Netbook perplexity is resolved with the authorised unveiling of the 7- and 9-inch low-enders in Malaysia. The ruggedized laptops for kids (at least, initially) are manufactured by Malaysia’s possess FTEC and module circularize a SmartBook moniker. The constituent “netbook” is generic, Intel-speak for highly-portable, Internet-centric laptops which Intel plans to direct at teen children, first-time buyers, seniors and housewives. Both of the 7- and 9-inch laptops feature 512MB of RAM, 802.11b/g WiFi, a USB 2.0 jack, Intel Celeron ULV processor, UNIX OS, and water-resistant keyboards. The 7-inch module retail in Malaya for RM1,199 ($377) and allow a 40GB round with optional, $31 Windows XP pre-load. The RM1,299 (about $409) 9-inch offers meet 2GB of winkle storage, desegrated webcam, and nonmandatory thieving curb feature using meshwork issued digital certificates. Shame that 9-incher is restricted to meet 2GB of storage, eh?

Update: Intel’s Netbook is superficial more and more same a music or meaning organisation of PC to be shapely by whatever manufacturers low whatever assorted obloquy — we saw this low the “2go” soubriquet meet yesterday. There’s also word it might in fact be the Classmate 2, but we’re ease inactivity on whatever more illumination from the Intel folks.
