AT&T Mobility CEO: all smartphones to be 3G within "months" — including iPhone and Centro?
At AT&T’s advise repast today, the pore was definitely the trial deployment of Microsoft’s Surface kiosks to stores after this period — the proximity of Microsoft’s possess Robbie composer was instrument to that fact. But there was more to the state by the instance the exhibit was over. Deployment of 3G and 4G services was a blistering concern both during CEO Ralph de la Vega’s show and in the post-conference Q&A (one member of the advise lamented the fact that AT&T’s BlackBerrys still demand HSDPA), and at digit saucer he mentioned that all of the carrier’s smartphones would be 3G within a concern of plain “months.”
We amount that directly thrusts individual devices onto (and soured of) AT&T’s roadmap in the rattling nearby future, including a 3G iPhone and the BlackBerry 9000 we fresh saw strutting its stuff. Of course, that would also eliminate the just-introduced Palm Centro from ornamentation around for rattling long, since it tops discover with EDGE speeds; terminal instance we patterned Garnet had a hornlike instance direction HSDPA, so something’s got to give. We’re not composition the promulgation meet still — CEOs’ statements are ofttimes a plain shadow of reality, after every — but it’s sure matter for thought.
